Brief overview

The Information and Support Service for Promoting Employment in the Cultural Sector in Huesca (northern Spain) supports the city’s cultural sector and operates under the Department of Economy, Investment Attraction and European Funds of Huesca City Council.

The service is primarily aimed at cultural professionals and organisations based in the municipality of Huesca, particularly artists and cultural managers. It provides four types of support: information and documentation, advisory services, training, and guidance and support. Its main activities include:

• Information and guidance for artists to help them acquire and develop professional skills.

• Management of a specialised documentation centre with a dedicated collection of resources designed to strengthen professional skills in the cultural sector. The centre currently holds more than 700 publications.

• Advisory services to support the creation and sustainability of jobs in the cultural sector in Huesca.

• Specialised training on key issues related to the development of the cultural economy and employment in the cultural sector.

• Guidance and support for new ventures, helping entrepreneurs take their first steps towards establishing cultural and creative micro-enterprises or becoming self-employed.

The service also offers an international placement and residency programme for cultural professionals and researchers interested in exploring cultural programme and project management in Spain.
